Greg, was Emily’s autism originally anything but “mild”? Was her autism originally “severe/profound” like Weston’s (and I was profoundly/severely autistic ages six-fourteen, grew up almost completely homeschooled due to my autism severity). Going to “special school” was impossible for me, we tried to enroll into a special school here in Florida but they were all at full capacity/unable to accept new students/or and too far away so we stuck with homeschooling after I was quickly pulled out of middle school aged 14 after just a couple months of hellish and overstimulating middle school (Southwest Junior High in Lakeland Florida). I must resist the urge to “become ‘mildly’ autistic” as I was secretly jealous of Emily’s ‘mild’ autism and all the “aspie/HFA supergeniuses without ANY learning delays” TV shows and trainwreck shows you see on TV. I must resist my jealousy and realize Emily’s “mild” autism is NOT HFA nor Aspergers, nor “aspie supergenius” TV show autism. I heard she used to be nonverbal, bite and hit herself, and attack people/not understand directions? Am I hallucinating, or was she actually severely affected by autism? I had extreme stomach viruses/extreme and projectile vomiting/eczema/acid reflux all the time as a kid.

When people see “mild autism” they just see Aspergers savants/HFA super-geniuses without any cognitive delays or learning disorders.
