Back in the earlhy 2000’s we were interviewed on AM Arizona and talked about the difficulty of having 2 autistic children.

We shared our account of raising two children with autism, describing early developmental delays, a difficult diagnostic process, and the profound shock and grief that followed. We explained that our son, Weston, has severe autism and requires substantial daily care, while our daughter, Emily, is mildly autistic. We talked about the exhausting, nonstop nature of caring for a child with high-support needs and the lack of public understanding when challenging behaviors occur outside the home. We also discuss the strain autism can place on families, noting high divorce rates and the heavy responsibilities often carried by single parents.

We talked about our worries about the future—especially who will care for our children as we age—and expresses a desire to bring greater awareness to the realities faced by families like ours. We discuss how environmental toxins and vaccines have played a role in our children’s conditions. We show our commitment to showing our children openly in the community and participating in a documentary to help others better understand the challenges and needs of people living with autism.
